Press Secretary DEFENDS War Coverage During Briefing

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt engaged in a heated exchange with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Wednesday, defending Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and accusing the network of deliberately trying to undermine President Trump through its coverage of six American military deaths in the ongoing Iran conflict.

Tense White House Briefing Exchange

The confrontation erupted after Collins questioned whether the administration believed the press should avoid prominent coverage of fallen service members. Leavitt had just announced Trump’s planned attendance at the dignified transfer ceremony for the initial war casualties at Dover Air Force Base. The press secretary fired back, insisting the media should focus on accurately reporting Operation Epic Fury’s success against the Iranian regime rather than using casualties to damage the president politically.

When Collins pressed on Hegseth’s earlier complaints about front-page coverage of the six deaths, Leavitt accused the reporter of being disingenuous. The press secretary declared that CNN and Collins specifically wanted to make Trump look bad, calling it a fact. She emphasized that Hegseth cares deeply about service members and regularly travels nationwide to meet with military personnel, coverage she claimed CNN rarely provides.

Operation Epic Fury Intensifies

The Pentagon identified four of the six fallen Americans as Army Reserve Captain Cody Khork, 35, from Winter Haven, Florida; Sergeant First Class Noah Tietjens, 42, from Bellevue, Nebraska; and Sergeant Declan Coady, 20, from West Des Moines, Iowa. Trump told reporters the military operation was proceeding exceptionally well, rating it a 15 on a scale of 10. The Pentagon revealed that bombing intensity has doubled compared to the 2003 shock and awe campaign against Iraq.

Administration’s Strategic Message

Trump justified the military action by emphasizing the danger of nuclear weapons in the hands of unstable regimes. He noted that Iranian leadership and missile capabilities were being rapidly eliminated after decades of America being pushed around. Leavitt predicted future generations would view this moment as when the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran ended, declaring that Iranian terrorist leaders are paying for their crimes against America in blood. The administration maintains that the rogue Iranian regime poses an existential threat to every American.
