President Trump unveiled plans for the largest steel plant in American history, set to rise in Iowa and create 1,750 permanent jobs while producing over 7.5 million tons of steel annually by 2030.
Historic Manufacturing Investment
Trump announced the project during an Oval Office ceremony with executives from Mesabi Metallics, a Minnesota-based company that will construct the facility. The president highlighted his electoral success in Iowa while emphasizing the plant’s significance for American manufacturing. Energy Secretary Chris Wright indicated the location would be in southeast Iowa, though Mesabi has not disclosed the specific site. This marks the first mega steel plant built in the United States since the 1960s, according to White House officials.
The project brings together political and economic objectives as Republican representatives from Iowa, facing competitive November races, joined the announcement alongside Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Export-Import Bank Chairman John Jovanovic. White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers stated the investment demonstrates Trump’s commitment to rebuilding American industry and reshoring manufacturing capabilities that declined over previous decades.
Strategic Resource Integration
Mesabi Metallics will supply the plant with iron ore from its new $2.5 billion mining operation in Minnesota. The vertical integration creates a complete American supply chain from raw material extraction to finished steel production. Trump administration officials expect the manufactured steel to support future defense projects, linking the economic development to national security priorities. The strategic approach addresses supply chain vulnerabilities exposed in recent years.
State Legislative Action Required
Iowa lawmakers may need to reconvene at the statehouse to approve tax incentives for Mesabi Metallics, according to reports from the Des Moines Register. State officials are being briefed on the potential special session as negotiations continue over the financial package needed to secure the project. The White House characterized the announcement as evidence of trillions of dollars in new investment flowing into American manufacturing under Trump’s economic policies, positioning the steel industry as central to restoring industrial competitiveness and protecting communities dependent on manufacturing jobs.

Sounds really great, big plus for the U.S.A I do have one question, the financing for this project, will it be U.S. or foreign investors such as CHINA and or other far east investment. Would/should be all U.S. investment, do not need the bottom line to be controlled by countries outside the U.S.A.
The ultimate ownership seems to be from India and not American. Also there seems to be no signed agreement nor letter of intent. No action has been taken by the state. We have seen this before a couple of times where Trump comes up with these super projects just before an election cycle only to disappear after the election. Currently think GM. They were to build in America but announced that they are investing one billion dollars in Canada. Besides it would not be this year before this creates jobs.
I am disappointed that National New Daily did not dig deeper into this story considering Trump is a pathological liar. I think this story creates a creditability problem.
STOP.
FAKE NEW!
